Something Old - Antique Lace Teardrop Necklace

This "something old" is actually something new.
Perfect "something old" for a bride on her wedding day or a sweet vintage look to wear with jeans and a tshirt.

This pretty pendant was created from PMC (Precious Metal Clay - recycled .999 fine silver once fired in a kiln). I used antique lace to press into the metal clay. Once fired, the pendant was tumbled for smoothness, oxidized for depth, and polished for shine.

You can find it in my Etsy shop.

Etsy Friends

I have been having a crazy couple of weeks with a hectic family schedule, home disasters (our ac leaked in our attic and it "rained" in our master bedroom, our garage door broke, and our sliding glass door shattered), as well as trying to get everything in order before we go on vacation. So, what a wonderful surprise and much needed ray of sunshine it was to find this package waiting for me from Kara of Love for Earth the other day. I had "met" her through Etsy when I ordered some of her great produce bags which I love. She was then kind enough to custom make these great bags for my kids lunches. No more plastic bags for us, yay! Do you see these aqua ones? I am soooo stealing those for myself, they are MY color. ;-)

So thanks so much Kara! And hip-hip hooray for Etsy friends!!! I have truly met some of the most wonderful people through this great community.

Happy Weekend to you all!

Introducing My New Fine Silver Dog Tags

"Lace Trio"
I have recently become obsessed with dog tag style necklaces. I am having fun playing around with contrasts - elegant vs. casual. Is it possible to have both in one design??? I think so, and hopefully I've done this in these new pieces. I like the idea of wearing these pendants with jeans and a tshirt OR that slinky black dress.
"Gloriously Green Gingko"

I'm also working on a little something for the guys, so check back soon!;-)

Happy Weekend All!
Hugs,
Andrea

I'm Running Away to Hawaii . . .

Ok, so not really, but a girl can dream can't she? With the weather so gray and cold I find myself longing for beaches and sunny shores. With the sea on my mind, I just had to list these little seahorses in my Etsy shop.

For those of you who stopped by my blog these past few days and signed up for my giveaway, can I just say, "wow! you guys are the best!" I am absolutely giddy from the interest in this contest and my Romance Pendant Necklace. If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late! I'm soooo looking forward to Saturday to find out who the winner will be! :-)

So Nice to Be Noticed

The life of an artist and crafter is an emotional roller coaster ride. One day you may feel like no one likes your work, why do you bother? The next, you might feel on top of the world! I've been lucky enough to have several "on top of the world days" lately.
My sea shell fine silver post earrings were featured in a Etsy Spotlight article in the Storque (Etsy's Online News).
Then today I was so excited to see my flower vase necklace on the front page of Etsy! Thanks so much to Knots for featuring me in her super cool "loco" treasury, yay!!!

Richmond Spotlight

The talent in this town amazes me! I feel so lucky to be part of such a creative community. I have decided to do a weekly blog entry featuring artists and crafters in the area. This week's featured artists are two fabulous sellers on Etsy and members of the Richmond Etsy Street Team:
Dichroic Pendant
Meet Janice Alexander, an Artist/Jewelry Designer who happily resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and two Boxer dogs (Austin and Molly). Her Etsy store features some of her incredible unique dichroic glass and sterling silver jewelry . This piece is one of my favorites from her shop - what a wonderful range of color and depth! Very sleek and sophisticated! Be sure to check out her Etsy store for more samples of her work.

Meet "Jenypenny", a Senior System Engineer by day and a painter, altered artist, scrapbooker by night. She has just recently moved to the Richmond area and I've been lucky enough to meet and chat with her at the local Craft Lounge at the Camel.
This sweet little bird painting is one of my favorites from her Etsy shop. Fun and whimsical in it's design, vintage buttons add terrific texture and depth, and of course the wonderful message it brings with its text of "dreams".

Little of this, little of that

To say I have been busy lately is a bit of an understatement. I'v e had shows, charity auctions to attend, lots of portrait holiday commissions to complete, classes to teach, classes to take, and of course on-line stores to keep stocked. I find myself saying it often, but I only wish there were more hours in the day! :-) Will be listing this original acrylic painting of "Watchful Kitty" on ebay tomorrow!
I love these yellow jade roses ! I've listed my necklace in my Artistic Creations Etsy shop.

Etsy for animals

Just joined the new "street team" on Etsy which will be know as EFA (Etsy for Animals). Each member of the team either donates part of their sales or the profit from an entire item to different animal rescues. We will also be featuring a special rescue group each month. This month is Big Cat Rescue.

I have listed some of my tiger painting items as 100% towards this rescue on my Etsy shop today.
