Trying Not to Hibernate

This is the current view out of my studio window.
Yup, we are officially snowed in again here in ole' Richmond Va.
I'm trying not to hibernate, but honestly I am really thinking how nice it would be to just take a nice long nap and wake up when all this messy stuff has gone and it is once again warm enough to go outside without a coat and mittens.

Since hibernating is out, I have at least managed to get myself out of my pj's and into some proper clothes. I made a nice pot of homemade vegetable soup and a loaf of beer bread for lunch. Now, if I could just get motivated to get busy in the studio.

"Be Still My Beating Heart"

I have at least taken a few photos of my newest creations to list in my Etsy shop today.
This one features one of my new bronze pieces as well as my newest addiction - crochet necklaces! I started making a few while watching movies on these snowy weekends and have become hooked. (sorry, pardon the bad pun!)

"Cherry Blossom Bling-a-ling"

Ok, I am now feeling a bit more motivated after a nice cup of tea. I'm going to see what I can come up with in the studio today.

Hoping you are all having a warm and happy Saturday!

Fun in the Snow

We got an unheard of amount of snow here in Richmond this past week. I think the final total was 19 inches! For the most part we have been stuck in the house for a few days. I have managed to get to the post office and ship out all those last minute orders.
After what was hopefully the last trip to the post office today, I took the boys and Zelda sledding.

This was her first run down the hill. After this she was always ahead pulling full force!
What fun!

Now it's time for some hot cocoa and more cookie baking.

Hugs,
A

Big News!

Ok, so I disappeared to the beach for a few days on a spontaneous trip to enjoy the last week of summer with the kids, I'll share more on that later. Then, I managed to pick up a nasty bug at the beach and was very sick the past few days, I won't bother you with the details on that. So, now I can finally share my big news I promised last week (drum roll please) . . . .
My jewelry can now be found, and purchased, at the new Whole Foods opening up in Richmond's West End tomorrow 9/3!!! How cool is that?!
This is is a little sneak peek at my jewelry and display which I made myself (with a bit of help from hubby too).

Saturday Farmers Market

If you are in town this weekend, stop by the 17th Street Farmers Market this Saturday for the Showdown - tons of good food, music, and crafts!
I will be there with some of my Artistic Creations jewelry and a few of my latest paintings too.
Should be fun! :-)

Richmond Spotlight

The talent in this town amazes me! I feel so lucky to be part of such a creative community. I have decided to do a weekly blog entry featuring artists and crafters in the area. This week's featured artists are two fabulous sellers on Etsy and members of the Richmond Etsy Street Team:
Dichroic Pendant
Meet Janice Alexander, an Artist/Jewelry Designer who happily resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and two Boxer dogs (Austin and Molly). Her Etsy store features some of her incredible unique dichroic glass and sterling silver jewelry . This piece is one of my favorites from her shop - what a wonderful range of color and depth! Very sleek and sophisticated! Be sure to check out her Etsy store for more samples of her work.

Meet "Jenypenny", a Senior System Engineer by day and a painter, altered artist, scrapbooker by night. She has just recently moved to the Richmond area and I've been lucky enough to meet and chat with her at the local Craft Lounge at the Camel.
This sweet little bird painting is one of my favorites from her Etsy shop. Fun and whimsical in it's design, vintage buttons add terrific texture and depth, and of course the wonderful message it brings with its text of "dreams".
