Fun in the Snow

We got an unheard of amount of snow here in Richmond this past week. I think the final total was 19 inches! For the most part we have been stuck in the house for a few days. I have managed to get to the post office and ship out all those last minute orders.
After what was hopefully the last trip to the post office today, I took the boys and Zelda sledding.

This was her first run down the hill. After this she was always ahead pulling full force!
What fun!

Now it's time for some hot cocoa and more cookie baking.

Hugs,
A

Sick as a Dog

Such a strange saying, wonder where that one came from?
I've been terribly sick since Monday. I'm afraid I've had too miss out on two shows and the South of the James Market yesterday.
I'm also a bit behind on orders and convos, so thank you those of you who are patiently waiting.

My faithful friend Zelda has not left my side for a moment. Such a good girl. I know she is desperately missing our morning walks in the woods. (as am I, sigh)
Those are my legs under the fuzzy fleece in case you didn't guess. ;-)
I will try my best to get all orders out tomorrow.

Hoping you all are having a happy and healthy weekend!

When the House is Quiet

In a house with two loud and energetic little boys and one extremely noisy, hyper lab puppy, there is usually a lot of noise. When the house becomes quiet it either means the boys are at school and the dog is outside, OR . . . someone is up to no good. ;-)
Yesterday, I was very busy trying to catch up on some portrait commission paintings and realized how quiet it had gotten in the family room. I went to check on Zelda and she had managed to shred one of her favorite toys into a million pieces. How guilty does she look?!
I have had to take a break from painting my little pendants for a while so I can get caught up on other things, but did want to share this photo since I've been playing around with my new camera.

Lucky

Look who showed up at our door 11pm Friday night. Covered with ticks, full of energy, and so very sweet. He only had a SPCA collar on , so we had no idea who he belonged to. We decided to put him in our fenced in backyard for the night. The next afternoon we finally were able to track down his owners through the SPCA. Turns out his name is "Lucky" . . . how very appropriate!

New Graphite Work

After so many color pencil drawings, and acrylic and watercolor paintings, I figured I should do a "little something" in graphite for a change of pace. I had seen the reference image for this (color photo) on WC and just couldn't resist this sweet image. This little one just looks so frail and delicate in the owners hands, but made me think how size doesn't matter, and this little one could still be "top dog" (sorry, pardon the pun) in his or her household. :-)
8" x 10" graphite pencil
The reference photo for this piece came from Carolene -M. on the Wet Canvas artist's site - thank you!
Original piece will be available for sale on my website soon. Currently listing note cards and prints on my Etsy store.
