Summer Slipped

Summer slipped by . . . as I blinked.

It seems like it was just the other day they got out for school and we were making all our summer plans.

But now they are already back to school. So grown up.
Now fall has arrived and we're back to apple picking.

Life is speeding by. Sigh.

I know it has been forever since I've updated this poor neglected blog. I'll be posting my fall/winter show list later today.

Double Digits

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Icecream cake from Cold Stone Creamery, yum!

Nothing like your child hitting the double digits to make you feel old. How has ten years passed so quickly?

A game of Magic Quest.

We celebrated his birthday last week with a big hurrah at Great Wolfe Lodge.

Bunk bed fun.

It was a ton of fun and a great way to end the summer. The boys go back in just a little over a week. Eeek, there is still so much we want to do before the fall routine begins!

Kayaking at Twin Lakes State Park

My Mom and Dad took the boys on their first kayak ride during our camping trip at Twin Lakes this past week. I got to give it a try too. :-)

Hope you all are having a great week.
I'm starting to feel a bit sad that summer is almost over. The boys and I are starting to make a list of all the things we'd still like to do before school starts. Before we know it the bus will be here, homework will need done, and the days will be shorter.
Sigh, I do so wish summer would last a bit longer.

Where did the summer go?

Sun going down on the beaches of Ocracroke Island
Where did the summer go? Every year it goes by a bit quicker. I'm feeling a bit sad that my boys are back to school and it's back to the fall rush - get up at the crack of dawn to make the bus by 7am, the homework and other activities after school, ....
If only we could escape back to the beach like we did a couple of weeks ago. How I love the sound of the ocean, the smell of the sea, and lazy days at the beach.

Multitasking

Working on 4 portraits at a time, trying to get them finished!!!

I have become the "Queen of Multitasking" this summer. It has been an interesting juggle - taking the dog for a walk before the husband leaves for work in the morning, answering emails, packaging up orders, getting jewelry made, getting orders shipped, finishing portraits, and of course most importantly - entertaining the kiddos! It's no wonder when my head hits the pillow I am asleep within seconds! Ok, I am not really complaining here, I love having the kids home in the summer, BUT, I would not say that this has been a "lazy" summer by any means. ;-P

Sweet Summertime

"Flowers and Denim" fine silver and kyanite earrings

I just love the beginning of summer! No more getting the kids up at the crack of dawn and rushing to get to the bus on time, no more homework, no more packing lunches!!! The temperature has been back in the 80's and the kiddos and I have been having fun going to the pool, library, and local icecream shop. My husband has been able to work from home on Thursdays so I can sell my jewelry down at the 17th Street Farmer's Market.

I've been feeling very creative lately and have a new line of paintings which I will be posting soon, along with several portrait commissions I am trying to finish up.
