Sugar Magnolia

My most recent commission has been of a beautiful horse with the name of Sugar Magnolia. I was commissioned by a class of 2nd graders to do a portrait of their teacher's new horse. I could not decide what medium to do the portrait in so I did two! The class has chosen to give the color pencil portrait to the teacher with the option of trading it out with me if she chooses. I'll be anxious to hear what she thinks!

Dog Daze

At least that is what I think the title for this one will be. Not sure if I'm done with it yet either. Might need to bump the values a bit more. I seem to be feeling indecisive today, must be the weather. It's a cold gray day here.

The reference photo for this piece came from Philpegg at Wet Canvas. I just fell in love with the photo and had to draw it! The little girl has a strong story to tell as do the set of door behind her. I also loved the contrast of yellows and blues.
I am thinking of entering this piece into a juried show, so wish me luck!:-)

Bubbles with a Wink!

I had not drawn anything in Color pencils since Christmas time and was beginning to miss them. Decided I would take a break from animals since I've been working on several dog commissions since the Pet Expo. So, decided to start a couple different pieces centering around the magic moments of childhood.
I stumbled across some wonderful photos on Morguefile by photographer Pheadra Wilkinson. She kindly gave me her permission to use her photo as a reference for my drawing.
I have had a lot of fun with this piece. I may try another version of this on mylar/drafting film. Have not done anything on that surface before, but I've been intrigued by the work of some other artists who have been working with this material.
My next piece is of a young boy daydreaming while eating an icecream cone. I hope to post some pictures soon.
